I have two new basses only I’m not sure what they are to the majority of onlookers. Really only care about bassists opinions...hahaha.
I’m having a lot of fun with the various voices available with the coil tapping and passive tone circuitry. On the P I’ve added switches and a Stellartone pot. The Roscoe Beck is amazingly versatile. Fun stuff
BTW, do I really care what anyone else thinks? No, just curious. :D

How do you like the one on the right? Been curious about them, haven’t seen one yet

It’s like a lesser quality version of the one on the left and was a very nice platform for the added mods.
The p’ups are just as hot, but less refined, so to speak. That difference is pretty much throughout the build quality. The Blacktop is very nice and gets the job done, no problem, but, the Roscoe Beck is like 9lbs of ‘buddah’.

Congrats man! I'm a huge fan of those dual coil setups on fender basses. You definitely get a huge number tone shaping options especially for live use, and I'm really not sure as well, why Fender never went with this setup on more models. Furthermore I'm not sure why they felt the need to develop a completely new bass (dimension bass) with completely new pickups, when variations on the Roscoe Beck would have probably been more well-received and frankly would have sold better. I understand that the dimension bass was sort of Fender answer to The Music Man sound, but I don't know, they don't really do it for me. Anyhow, those are two great instruments man enjoy playing them! JM2C ;)

Well, Roscoe Beck has always been a Jazz player. I read somewhere that when he was designing the pickup system with Bill Lawrence, he wanted both pickups in single to sound as close as possible to his vintage J (62 if I recall). So the RB Sig is a Jazz first and foremost.

The other one is a modded P bass since it has a P body.

Both very cool basses no matter what you call them. I really enjoyed the time I spent with an RBV and it heavily influenced the Hammersmith I sweated every detail over with @MarkoYYZ. (See pic below) He could probably pull of a version with two NYC pickups and similar electronics to the RBV. But he could detail that for you more than I could. I have said for several years that there are three pieces of gear that every bass player should own if only for a little while.
1) P bass
2) SVT
3) Fender RB Sig

Being that Fender doesn't make the RBV anymore, I would bet a ton of money that a 5 string of that Blacktop would FLY off the shelves.

Whataya get when you combine a P(ish) body and neck pickup, Roscoe Beck style electronics and bridge pickup, and 35" scale and 19mm spacing for Twofer's big hands? This!

The Chinese Modern Player Jazz basses are great if you can handle how heavy they are. I still have a 4-string version, but I had to sell this 5. It fatigued me to play it for long periods of time. But it looks and sounds awesome, and they're relatively cheap if you can find one. I know it's a petty thing to care about, but I hate the 5-on-a-side headstocks. The 4+1 is a great look, in my opinion. Always loved and wanted a Roscoe Beck but could never afford one, so when I had the chance to get one of these, I figured it was worth a try. It didn't disappoint in tone and playability.
