Is this crazy? 12" two tier pedalboard?

I currently use a pedaltrain Mini and it holds everything I need. BUT...
I play with my bass on a stand (mounted on a tripod) so I'm fairly fixed in one spot. It would be convenient to have better access to all of the pedals without having to stretch my leg out like a demented crane.
I don't want a huge board. I don't want to lug more than I currently lug.
But I've seen some well made 2 tier boards here. Most have been bigger than I'm talking about.

Am I crazy to want a 12" two tier pedalboard? Does anyone make them? Or would I need to make my own? There are enough folks here that have showcased ones that they've built that I could pretty well reverse engineer one (and figure out who to ask for guidance.

And I remember The Rule (forget from who) - find a case first and build your board to fit it... :D

I use a board that is 16"x16" with an 8"x16" top tier by LYT pedalboards, sadly they are outta biz but it is a well designed board that fits in a mixer case. Under the shelf there is room for a power supply and other things you might need. I understand needing a compact board because I sit when playing.

You're playing an electric mounted on a tripod while standing, so you're fairly stationary?

Will you be clicking pedals during songs or between them??

At home I keep my 2 boards on stands near the head and cab so I don't have to keep bending down to move knobs and switches with my messed up back.

I play standing up 95% of the time at home, and 100% standing elsewhere (where either board would be at my feet for occasionally on/offs during songs), but for home prax I can get away with using my hands to just switch em between numbers. Plus it keeps our library room looking tidy, too :p

I guess I'm just throwing that out there as an option since your bass is also on a stand, for reasons I'm not clear on.

But I've definitely seen some of what you're describing (in all sizes) here in the 'DIY Pedalboard' & possibly the 'Show Your Compact Pedalboard' threads.

Interested to hear what you come up with :thumbsup:

@catcauphonic @Adienn7 I stand when I play (and the bass is on a stand - we're outstanding together :D )
It is in fact a back issue, actually fusion in my neck. I started to use the stand (Mbrace) while recovering from the surgery, and liked it a lot. Weight of the bass is now a non-issue.
@catcauphonic Library room? Color me jealous :D
I during songs for a few songs, so "at my feet" is the best option.

@ccouch7 When I search, "FIX pedalboards" makes pedalboard accessories but not boards. "FX pedalboards" makes some cool boards and some ultra-cool standing board/workstations but not what I'm looking for.

I built this with very little know how. Cost about $30 total for all materials (plenty left over) and a couple hours of time. This is 18x9ish. Mounting stuff underneath is a nice bonus.

Ah dangit, sorry about that. I know they used to make/sell aluminum boards at one time
but I guess their just doing the accessories now.

This kind of low-tech DIY is a possibility. But then I start to want to make it all trick, and start sourcing hardwoods, and then it spins out of control. :D
But... I have some unused sheets of plywood so we shall see.
