I know that a lot of basses have neck dive and vice versa. 2 of my 3 have heavier bodies than necks and I never get neck dive. My 3rd bass has a light body and a chunky neck and it appears to be really well balanced. When releasing, it likes to "dive" a bit compared to the other 2, resting near where it's parallel to the ground. I can actually balance the bass at the neck plate...kind of like you would do to a nice knife at the hilt, so it seems to have a pretty good 50/50 weight ratio.
Am I weird for noticing this? Is this considered neck dive? The neck doesn't want to fall to the floor, just to the point where the neck and the body are equal...almost like in one of those old sets of scales.
No complaints, I love all 3 basses and in fact the 1 with "neck dive" in question is my preferred bass at the moment.
