So he put up the name Warwick before it was an official trademark.
So no lawsuit bass.

Is this really an early Warwick bass?

Well, if it is real, why does the decal in the back look so fake?
Im guessing because Hans Peter was just a young man and haven't founded the company "Warwick" yet.
He was just learning to built instruments from his father's heritage.
I'm very active on the warwick forum and I can confirm that it is legit. It was confirmed by someone working at the company (Gregory at the CS).
I know my information from talking to a Warwick enthusiast once in a store. So I don't know the details. (Or can't remember because he was boring me and pushing me to buy a Warwick
)But I'm confused about the year.

Very low price.
It can go for a lot more if the right buyer comes along.
This is a collector item, not a high end bass.
I really don't get what's so suspicious to some of you about this bass. I had never seen or heard of this model, but all the facts check out. Also, consider what rare vintage instruments sell for. The price seems about right. Not that I'd ever pay that kind of price, but to a collector it's probably a good deal.
What kind of neck joint is that??? Bolt on.... to what? The fretboard?! Neck appears to stop at the body, before the joint - or does it continue "inset" to the neck joint? Weird.

are BC Rich when they are in fact the equivalent of a cheap MIM bass. Most sellers try to get buyers to believe that these are worth real money when they are no more than a $200 on a good day bass.
Yeah, considering Warwick's current standing this would be an investment. Only 50 or 60 ever made, 3 hours to go

I wouldn't consider it to be a classic by any stretch but I would bet anyone as much $$$ as they have that this sells for a lot more than $200 on eBay or anywhere else with full disclosure.

Thanks for the post. You helped prevent me from making it my life's purpose to PM every person that buys a bass on TB and telling them it is fake, overpriced, they are stupid for buying it, etc.
I bought it as I had a similar bass when I was a metalhead in the mid '80's. I thought it would be cool to get an older BC Rich regardless if it is a "parts bass" or whatever.
I haven't gigged it yet and don't think it will replace my Sadowskys or Stingrays anytime soon but it sounds suprisingly good IMO. My initial impression is that it sounds MUCH better than the 3 MIM Fenders (2 P basses and a J) I have owned in the past.
This is a fun bass for me and the only gig it will see in the near future is Halloween.
