To bad most basses that are cool don't come in fretless.

That bass is totally legit and is rightfully called a Warwick.

Perhaps this is why people dismiss BC Riches as just cool shapes. The Son of a Bich is nothing more than a cheap import with the shape of a classic that was a great innovation for its time:
Just because it is old does not mean that it is good. If I read this right this is an ASSEMBLED bass from parts before Wilfer started building his own.

The issue is not if this bass is good or not. I actually myself think that this bass isn't that good to play and the sound wont be all that.
The issues here are:
1) Legit? Yeah totally off course.
2) Price? It is indeed a rare bass and collectors pay a lot of money for it.
This belongs in a museum, not in a studio or on a stage.
Or if the buyer wants to use it for that, knock yourself out.
Parts bass... so are Sadowskies and Valentis, and they are very great and very wanted. Some people don't have an issue with a "parts bass".

No, not if you read anything that was written in the auction or by the more knowledgeable people in this thread. It was built by the son of the guy who ran Framus, using a mix of Framus and Fender parts. As has been stated repeatedly.
Because people think that these:
are BC Rich when they are in fact the equivalent of a cheap MIM bass. Most sellers try to get buyers to believe that these are worth real money when they are no more than a $200 on a good day bass.
I can see you know as much about BC Rich as you do about Warwick. If you can find these Basses for $200 I really would like to see an example. What years did Berni Rico make basses in Mexico? I made the trade and had only seen one other bass like this on ebay. It sold for over $600, so I guess somewhere they are worth more than $200.
What kind of neck joint is that??? Bolt on.... to what? The fretboard?! Neck appears to stop at the body, before the joint - or does it continue "inset" to the neck joint? Weird.
Otherwise, double P pickups look nice....

My guess is that the insert-part of the neck isn't as wide and thick as the neck itself.
That's why you see the the contoured edge from neck agaisnt the edge of the body.
The joint isn't wide enough to see it.
One thing that both Wilfers are known for: precision wood craftmanship.

I have spent a good chunk of change on 3 Sadowsky basses which based on your logic are "parts basses". Add that to the recent purchase of my "$200" Son of a Bich, I truly must be an idiot. Thanks for your guidance. eBay, here I come.
Do people still do that sort of thing? I thought that "reading the whole thread before commenting" died out in the '90s.

My friend has a lefty one of these. He paid $200 for it in '86, and tried to sell it for $750 last year, but the buyer backed out of it. It's better than the MIM Precisions I've tried, but it does lack the bells and whistles the high end BC Riches have.
