Is this really Danelectro?

Hello, I'm newbie at talkbass forum. Need help to identify bass,
looks identically to Danelectro Longorn bass, copperburst color, from sixties; Bass is very old, has dings & scratches - looks really relic Here are some pics, not so great quality;

Looks real to me!

Not a lot of fakes out there on the Danos, and this one's got some character too.

I think the Danelectro models have been used with a million different names. They were often to be found in Sears catalogs and the like. So, it's a Danelectro-type bass, if not an actual Dan. Either way, you have an awesome bass.

No it isn't a real Danelectro from the 60's.

Danos didn't have an adjustable trussrod, closed tuners, skirted knobs or a zero fret among other inconsistencies with this bass...

Nice find! Believe it or not, there was an Italian company in the '60s that made Dano copies.

I think it is an older reissue. The bridge seems right for an original, the knobs are RI, and the truss rod says RI (assuming there is a truss rod under that route).

Exactly. There are a few things wrong with that bass besides what mongo says-the ferrules for the neck mounting screws for example-Danelectro never used them. That would have been unthinkable. Way too expensive. I don't think the copies Jerry Jones makes even use ferrules.

I owned an original Longhorn in 1961 that I bought new then. This bass is not the same. I may be one of the reissues that came out some years ago and someone upgraded it and reliced it, but it doesn't look like the real thing.

Edit to add-just looked at the Dynelectron site. That's what it is. Nevertheless, it might be a decent copy and sound quite like the original. I know the made in Korea reissues were actually better basses than the originals-like the necks, fretwork and construction quality for eaxample. I don't know if these Italian copies are made in Italy or also made in Asia.
