Is this Rickenbacker fake, stolen or both?

This popped up for sale a few hours from me for a stupid low price and I’m trying to figure out if it’s legit (and probably stolen) or a knockoff.

I don’t know much about Ricks, but the made in America sticker is rectangular instead of the oval I have seen on others. The truss rod cover also seems to be going the wrong direction and is missing the Made in USA at the bottom of it. Not sure of that means it’s a fake or sone variant I’m not familiar with. Also, it appears to have had the photos taken in the back of a truck in a gas station parking lot, which doesn’t inspire confidence, haha!

I am really struggling to think of a plausible reason why someone would try to sell any bass based on pictures taken in the back of a truck parked at a gas station, but what little I've come up with so far is not good.

They had it listed for $540. It was listed about 4 hours from me in the middle of nowhere in Indiana. The backstory given was that his mother bought it for him to learn last year and he never got around to it, lol… suuuuuuure!

The horseshoe looked weird, and the trussrod cover was a mirror image of when a proper Ric cover is applied to a lefty, plus the headstock is lefty. It must be the new “AI” model.

It looks weird, but that's the way the righty C 64 TRC came on those, I don't like the look at all, but that bass looks like the real thing.

I won’t proclaim to be a Ric expert but it does look legit to me. Considering the location the photos were taken, the extremely low price, and the listing getting yanked quickly, my guess is it was stolen.
