Is this Rickenbacker fake, stolen or both?

Is this a real or fake Rickenbacker?

This popped up for sale a few hours from me for a stupid low price and I'm trying to figure out if it's legit (and probably stolen) or a knockoff.

I don't know much about Ricks, but the made in America sticker is rectangular instead of the oval I have seen on others. The truss rod cover also seems to be going the wrong direction and is missing the Made in USA at the bottom of it. Not sure of that means it's a fake or sone variant I'm not familiar with. Also, it appears to have had the photos taken in the back of a truck in a gas station parking lot, which doesn't inspire confidence, haha!
So, so many problems with these photos.

I don't know why you'd say that...
It looks like that's probably his home!!

Somebody near you is very upset because their Rickenbacker got stolen. Pics taken in the back of a grungy car, no case, being held by a dirty tattooed hand with overgrown grubby fingernails? If that isn't a lowlife, they're wearing the uniform. :spit:
Tweaker swiped it from a music store and realized the pawn broker wouldn't give him the coin for an 8ball without ID. And paperwork?
Couldn't trade it for a tank of gas to move his home to the next underpass?

They had it listed for $540. It was listed about 4 hours from me in the middle of nowhere in Indiana. The backstory given was that his mother bought it for him to learn last year and he never got around to it, lol… suuuuuuure!

Mom saw the ad, told him to bring her truck back home and not be a dumbass selling that bass for that price.

What's the world coming to when you can't trust a guy selling something out of their car ? I can't tell you all the offers I've had at gas stations . While filling up yesterday, a woman came up to me and was rather eager to sell me some type of "Fuzz" for $50.00.......I declined .:cautious:

Why don't you re-post these photos in Craigslist in a way that the owner would see it? Doesn't give a lot of info but better than nothing.
