Here are pictures of a Gibson L-9S natural satin Ripper that someone is offering (it has taken me forever to get more pics sent, but seems like a decent guy). He says it was NOS from a music store owner.
From doing some internet research, it has the "two screws in pickup" and plate around the varitone position switch, both which were before the 1976ish changes, but the recessed metal plate on the back was AFTER the changes - is it possible they changed the back but not the front during those years?
Also, the grain in the wood (which I think is beautiful) seems to point out the separate parts of the body. Is the "mismatching" of the wood an issue? I personally think the wood looks special, but since I don't see others looking like this, is there something amiss?
Lastly, I've looked at Reverb and Ebay for pricing, and they fluctuate. Anyone care to give me a rough estimate of what I should offer (a range is OK - the seller has a selling price but don't know how fixed that is at the moment). Thanks to all for any input (true knowledge or opinions) on any of this you can provide.
