You kinda haev to accept that amp techs think differently from you....... at least until someone "reads it to them from the book".
There was a blues player here who was notorious for having the deadest tubes in his amp, and he loved it...... sounded just right to him, and he made it extra-specially clear that if the amp was repaired, the tubes were NOT to be changed.
The story goes that one time a tech didn't listen, and changed the tubes. The player, who had "connections", apparently made a call, and pretty soon the tech was finding those old tubes in the trash, and putting them back in, strongly encouraged by a couple of rather large, armed, friends of the player.
I'll bet that tech called the customer every single time after that.
