That tone is 85% technique, 10% fresh roundwounds, 3% reverb, and 2% everything else. Dingwall not required.

I'm fairly certain you could get something similar using a 5 string Squier. You might have to swap out the pickups, and you'll need to lower the action for tapping. And as Silky has said, you'll need reverb and maybe even delay. It fills out the sound quite a lot. You'll need a decent amp and mic, or a preamp/DI, or both.
