Is this Spector Euro 5LX real?

Guys, I've seen this spector euro 5lx selling for $1200 on Gumtree, there are dots on the fingerboard instead of XXX, can anyone tell me is it real or not? Thanks a lot~!

That's a real Spector bass, but it's not a Euro 5 LX, it's an NS-5CR. Great basses, 34" scale, all maple body and neck. Dots are on the earlier models before they adapted the crown inlays.

In all fairness melon.. the price of a new one is now approaching 3 grand.. it is time to stop lowballing the older basses.. if they are in great shape. the price needs to go up..

IMO that price is high, I'd be more comfortable if it was in the $800-$1000 range. My reasons are (even tho it's a little hard to tell from the pics) it looks to be in fair/very used condition with a non Spector HSC. If it was in great shape (no neck/truss problems, minor wear, no pitting/fading in the hardware, no rust, no issues with electronics, with Spector branded HSC) that price would be justified.

I agree, I'm just stating my opinion based on what I see and the trends I see. The OP question was in regard to the dots, which goes to show that the crown inlays are a very recognizable attribute of Spector basses, and the dots not so much, which drive desirability as well...does that affect price too, perhaps..

In all fairness I absolutely agree that that's an issue the Spector brand suffers in the used market. Especially with some current US models. I've seen pristine late year Fortes go for sub $1900 which is absurd IMO.

Edit: I feel that the price factor wasn't the issue here. But the prior comments to my original comment sort of swerved that way. I'm going to revise that post as a result.

@evermelon is right, this is an NS-5CR (precursor to the Euro5LX). The dot inlays are legit, just older. As to price, that's a good value for one, but some of these older Czech ones go for less occasionally.

I see the fretbaord dots just fine in all those frontal pictures.
Yup as the others stated, a dot neck version will be an earlier 34"scale 5string built before mid '99-ish.
