Double Bass is this string defective?

hi new to the forum and upright bass. almost finished stringing up my bass tonight and noticed what might be a defective thomastik superflex. To me it looks like some broken strands wrapping around the ball end. Is this normal or did some of the strands of the rope core not make it around the ball end to get wrapped....? I bought corellis and d'addario for the other 3 so I have nothing to compare it to. Thoughts before I call the shop? thanks!

Thomastik strings often have the ends of the stranded core sticking out like that - looks normal from here.
