Hi! I really need some help. I have a Rickenbacker 4003 and i have a love hate relationship with it. I really love the looks but other than that, its really not the bass for me.
I got one trade offer asking, if id like to trade my Rickenbacker to an Alembic Essence from 1990. Is it worth it money wise? I like to play some funk, jazz and some rock. My Rickenbacker is from 2013 and it is in fireglo finnish.
Please help
How do i check that it works?
Truss RODS. There are two of them. Too many people don't understand this. Also, I've never seen a bad truss rod on an Alembic instrument. And Alembic offers the best customer support anywhere.

Thank you, I'm sure that when removing the cover the OP would only check one since we didn't add an 'S'.
Throwing out random incorrect advice is not helpful and demonstrates a specific lack of knowledge regarding what to look for on an instrument.
John
Yes, your Alembic knowledge is superior. You rock!!!
I know you're being facetious, but I appreciate the thought regardless. ;-)
I've been an Alembic player since '81 and have done quite a bit of deep-diving on the company and their products. Mica, Susan and Ron are wonderful people who somehow tolerate me showing up and hanging out at random intervals. So, I get more than a little eager to provide information about their instruments when it comes up.
Have a good one.
John
Something like "Be aware this bass has a double truss rod" might come across better than "most people don't know". It's all in the delivery.
I think the bass is active, am i wrong? The Alembic looks passive? I had an Epic and it was active. I've owned Alembic Epic and played a number of Rics. Alembic hands down is a better bass. Value wise the Ric will sell easier but they are equal IMO.
