Is this trade worth it?

Hi! I really need some help. I have a Rickenbacker 4003 and i have a love hate relationship with it. I really love the looks but other than that, its really not the bass for me.

I got one trade offer asking, if id like to trade my Rickenbacker to an Alembic Essence from 1990. Is it worth it money wise? I like to play some funk, jazz and some rock. My Rickenbacker is from 2013 and it is in fireglo finnish.

Not being a fan of the Ricky bass, and you never bonded, I’d say jump on it.

I just parted with a PRS that never hit me.

Because it’s hard to know if you will be happy with the new instrument before you’ve made the trade.

That is exactly what im asking, thank you. I am a young bassist and i want to try as many basses as possible before i settle to some bass. That means that i will probably trade the alembic at some point so i just needed to know that will i lose money. And no, my parents or anyone else did not pay for my Rickenbacker or any of my gear, i worked my ass of last year.

Given what the used market on Alembics is like right now, I think this is a very fair trade. The Essence model electronic package goes to the heart of the Alembic sound. My first Alembic was an Essence. It was a fabulous bass.

I could be completely wrong, but I don't think any of the fakes have that bridge and tailpiece.
I'm sure you could contact Alembic with the serial number for verification.

Make sure the truss rod works on the Alembic. Other than that, go for it. The Ric would always sell faster but not necessarily for more money. That Alembic looks nice.

It just occurred to me that every trade I made for musical stuff...I regretted years later. Buy the Alembic.
