It's a cliche that each bass responds differently to different strings, pickups, etc.....
I've been using an 'Air Mic' because it gave me the most realistic sound of my bass.
However, having recently gotten a 'new' bass I decided to revisit some of my other gear. I put the Ischell C3 on the new bass, I tried 3 different positions, 1 near the soundpost, 2 near the bass bar, and 3 just below the middle of the bridge. #3 sounded the best and here is a sample.
Some of the benefits:
- virtually No Bleed
- No feedback (at sane volumes)
- Stays on the bass - no additional clamps or mounting gear.
- Can be played Without external Phantom Power IF you have the 9v option
