Scotland.
I've found a number of isolated Chris Squire bass tracks on Youtube. You can also hear Bill Bruford's parts on these, but that isn't a bad thing really! A rhythm section working together, unconventionally.

Close To The Edge:

Siberian Khatru:

South Side of the Sky:

Apparently he used his modified Telecaster bass on SSSOTS. It still sounds like Squire!

Long Distance Runaround:

If you didn't have GAS for a Rickenbacker before, you might do now! Even when it isn't a Telecaster. There must be more of these tracks out there somewhere. I would like to hear some isolated bass tracks from The Yes Album. The uploader has put some stuff from Starship Trooper online, but not the bass tracks! Yet...

Yes was my first rock concert, Fragile was the first album from my dad’s collection that I ever played repeatedly. And yet, this Definitely didn’t wind up being my tone and style.

The bass lines on “Close to the Edge” are direct and relatively simple for a tune that comes across as more frenetic and complex overall. Really interesting.

When I see people saying yes is lame or anything like that I play heart of the sunrise from the beginning. People go "whoa, who's that???" I tell them its Chris and his RIC. The guy shredded all over that that neck before there was shredding as a musical term! Give me a 4001, Roto strings and I'll be very entertained for a while! And I'll add that very few people can get that sound like he did because if you're a soft picker or plucker its not going to happen. He played with dynamics ranging from nice harmonics to hard hitting to light picking to using his nail to dig out a screaming tone. CHRIS IS THE MAN! EVEN IN DEATH!
