So today i wanted to fix the intonation on my bass because it was off, like almost a half step off by the time you get to the 12th fret. so i get into it with my brand new toolkit and i go to tighten a screw back up and the thing holding it breaks. So now the bridge is broken. What are the best option for fixing it. i feel like ill have to replace the whole bridge, but where is a place that would have what i will need

Okay so the grey spots on the bridge are what had broken off It was something holding the screw without it the screw sits to low to hold the other part down

I can't tell from the photo (not familiar with that bridge) whether a piece of the screw is still in there. If not, a replacement screw might be available from the manufacturer - or from ACE hardware. You could even change out all four screws so they match, then use Birchwood Casey instant gun blue to darken them.

Or, if forced to, replace the bridge. But that shouldn't be needed.

Its hard to tell from the picture, but It almost looks like the piece that broke off is just a spacer and the screw threads into the base of the bridge. Either way, I don't care for that bridge and an upgrade wouldn't be a bad idea. The only measurement you need is string spacing, you will have to drill holes to replace that bridge because I doubt you will find one with the same screw pattern.

The exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. My bridge looks a lot like yours.
What isn't quite visible on the picture is the broken tubular piece that grabs the screw from underneath (should be mounted on top of that hole). Without it, the screw can't quite reach and connect the monorail piece to the bridge.
I "fixed" it (the day before a gig, didn't have quite the time for a replacement) by carving the monorail piece in order to allow the screw to go deeper and finally grab the non-moving part of the bridge.

Here are the spec sheets for all Hipshot's 5-string bridges:

Verify that the base plate is not too different from yours or it could make adjusting the string height difficult if the base is too thick.

The TransTone might be the closest to a direct replacement.

If it isn't, I would look at one that mounts completely differently so you don't have to plug the holes before redrilling.
