Issues with new pickups Help!!

Alright folks,

I've just installed a set of EMG 35DC's and a BQS preamp into my bass.

I had a friend who is an electrical engineer but not a musician do it for me and I have an issue.

Basically the bass sounds fine, no weird noises or hiss, but when I plug it in to tune, the tuner is going ballistic, jumping through seemingly random notes without a note being played. Like I said, theres no noise from the bass while this is happening.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this so I can ask my friend to fix it for me?

Cheers,
Jamie

Have you tried the tuner on another bass? Or have you tried that bass with another tuner?

Could be the tuner has gone kaput and it is just coincidence? Have you tried changing the batteries in the tuner?

Nope, it's not the tuner, it's happening on two seperate tuners, one of which is the tuner that comes with amplitube through logic.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Could this just be a lose wire or a shortage somewhere?

Don't know if it could be some DC screwing things about?

Can you stick up a picture or two of the cavity/electronics?

If your friend is an EE, he'll surely have a multimeter, could see if there is any unaccounted for voltages, or even better an oscilloscope and look at the signal?
