Issues with the Fender Ultra Jazz 5

You can see the contrast in how close the strings are to the edge of the fret board. I have no problems with my Roscoe Beck falling off the edge.

That's an example of an instrument and neck designed for a 19mm spaced bridge.
I bought a RB5 when they first came out and still have it. It's a great bass with a big neck.
Tried an Ultra J 5 yesterday. The B&G strings were closer to the fingerboard edge than usual, but, were evenly so. It didn't feel noticeably different than any 5 string Fender I've played since, well, forever.
It spreads out gradually, but it's much more noticeable the higher up in the register you go. By the time you get above the 12th fret - the B & especially the G string are hanging on by a wing & a prayer.

That's the $50,000 dollar question - there's been no indication that Fender is doing anything or even "aware" of the situation. There's been speculation that hundreds of these have, and are continuing, to roll off the production line. My guess is that it's probably much higher than a couple hundred at this point. Seems you can barely walk into your local GC or local Fender dealer and not see one. Pics all over the net at all the large online retailers - it's very prevalent. I'm sure many will be interested in seeing what is done (or not done) to rectify the issue.
It's a trip to me that someone, anyone that saw that at the factory. The strings at the edge of the fingerboard and the misaligned G string over the pickups. Then thought that would be OK on one bass,
let alone a whole line to ship out. Then charge you $2000 for the privilege to own it that way

I know but I've seen tea used in really great Bursts too. I visualized a smoky burst of some sort.
Has anyone actually measured the bridge, is it really 19 mm or is it mis-aligned on the body or something ?
Based on doing photogrammetry on Fender's pictures, it is 19 mm. The photo resolution is pretty high so the difference between 18.3 and 19 mm spacing is easily measurable.
