1976: my batman action figure was my most prized possession; Star Wars wouldn't change my life until a year later.

But they loved my platform shoes.I do miss easy girls. Of course I play bass so they would ignore me too.
And just look at the top 40 playlist. funk was just coming into the mainstream, it was a great time to be a bass player.'76 was a great year.
If I told you even half of the cool stuff I did in '76 you'd never believe me!
On April 2nd 1976 a natural Gibson Grabber was born and made its way around the USA before landing in Germany sometime in the distant future. April 2nd 1988 I was born. 14 years on I picked up my first bass, but always lusted after the Grabber series. 2003 came along and I spotted a beautiful Grabber in great condition, £400, listed on eBay, with shipping from Germany available. It arrived in my hands, I immediately loved everything about this bass, apart from the sick smell under the scratch plate. Doing a full clean soon after her arrival I found a piece of cucumber under the pots and the smell of puke was strong. And there stamped on the neck was "Nat - April 2nd 1976".
We've shared some amazing experiences over the last 13 years, almost 300 shows and god knows how many rehearsal hours. Went through a bass drum. Smashed the singer in the face with her headstock, but she's still going strong. Might not be a birth year bass but sure as hell cool to have something that shares the same day of birth!!
If you were older than 15 in 1976 and can remember it then you couldn't have possibly really been there. Just sayin'.....
And back in the day your bass was made, I never once saw anyone playing a Grabber or anything other than a Fender.
I know, me too! WE had some crazy chemicals back then! That's the year I graduated!Great story.
I was eating crayons and peeing the bed '76...........
