- when Dana, Chris and myself would get together to bang through bong hits and Montrose covers. Chris and his family went to Oregon on vacation for the summer and after he returned I suspect that he negotiated one of those Robert Johnson deal with the devil things during the three months that he was away. He suddenly absolutely burned on the guitar, he had a hot girlfriend who would sit on his lap while we jammed, he grew a Frank Zappa moustache and smoked Lucky Strikes, plus he came back with a black - white - maple Stratocaster that I thought was simply the coolest thing north of the equator. That was 40 years ago and since then I've always been strongly drawn to the tuxedo / maple look but have never owned one until last week, which I guess is all just a rambling way of saying "NBD - Fender American Standard Precision".
