I saw him twice in little clubs in 1999 with the John Entwistle Band, very good band and the thing that surprised me about him was how light he played. The first club was an approx 100 seat local club I used to play in with a 2' stage so I got to stand about 10' in front of him (with every other local bassist) and could watch his very move, when he did his triplets his fingers were almost like butterfly wings. They were loud but the sound was so good and clear it sounded good not painful. The guitarists had full stacks and he had a stack of speakers up to the ceiling, I want to say he used Trace Elliot power amps (4) but it's been a long time, he did have little lights on the side of his fingerboard and played one of the futuristic basses had had. He played with both fingers and picks, about 50/50. He was very good and did a long solo which unfortunately kept tripping the breakers powering his amps. Did Boris, My Wife, other tunes he wrote and some solo stuff and some Who stuff, very impressive.
