All right, I know that the Rimini obviously looks like the 4005, but how does the sound compare between the two? I'd love to get something that sounds somewhat like Mani's 4005 on the Stone Roses records (always liked the upper range sound on his bass), and hope that there's some substance to the Rimini's style. Definitely won't be looking into any 4005s in the future, seeing as the cheapest one I found was $10,000.

Italia Rimini & Ric 4005

Somewhere around $700. What you mentioned though is exactly what I was thinking about - there is such a massive price disparity between the two that nobody who has owned one has probably even considered the other. I can't find any demos of the Italia, either.
To be honest though, you probably pretty much sound like "you" with any bass you play. Just like I do. If you dig the style, buy the bass, you can always tweak it later.

Well, I don't want to imitate any other bassist's style; there's just a certain tone in the high range on the 4005s that I've heard that I'd like to try to get. It's probably just a semi-hollow/hollow body thing.
Haven't played either, but I thought I'd seen reviews that Italia was pretty awful. Maybe it was a different model, though.
