Italia Torino Bass...

My friend has an industry connection to the company, and I'm really digging their Torino bass as a sexy Starfire clone. Any experience playing their instruments? They all seem to be pretty hip. I'm thinking 2012 might be the year I give them some love.

This probably a little late for an answer but I own an Italia Torino bass in black and have owned an Italia Maranello bass in the blue sparkle. In short the Maranello is great to look at but, it's ungodly heavy and has a very thick neck. Also the plastic assembly that holds the pickups and controls is of suspect quality. The Torino on the other hand is quite playable and put together very well. It's a little on the heavy side again and can feedback if your not careful. It's become a daily player for me. Ignore the the usual $679 price tag on these. They can be had for $600 on ebay. Please message me with any questions.

A little late, but appreciated. :^) I got a DeArmond Starfire reissue and put NOS 70s Guild humbucking pups in it. I'm sure it isn't quite as cool as a vintage Starfire which is what I've been shooting for with all these ideas... But I have less than $1,000 wrapped up into this instrument and I plays and sounds great!!

I just got a Maranello last month and it's lighter than my Ric 4003 - so it definitely wouldn't qualify as "ungodly heavy". No problem with the thickness of the neck either.

How long ago did you get yours? Did it have a chrome tail piece below the bridge? The current ones don't have the tail piece, but it appears in older pics of them. I wonder if yours was a first generation that was heavier with a thicker neck.
