2012 was definitely a year of acquisition for me. I came home from my 2011 NYE gig with a double gig bag with a 1986 Yamaha BB5000 and a 2006 Fender 75 AVRI Jazz. During 2012 I picked up the following....this is unreal....

a 1986 Yamaha BX-1 with the original case. Glad we are not getting into amp gear acquired in 2012....I have stuff to do to day. Looking forward to 2013 being a little less active on the GAS affliction.

The '86 MIJ was a very pleasant surprise. Bought for $400 as a "beater bass". The nut slots were cut really high and the whole setup was off as a result. You think someone would have noticed the problem with the nut slots at anytime between 1986 and 2012!! Anyway, 15 minutes worth of work and it actually became my go-to bass for the last 6 months of the year.
The Squier 50's Precision is one I bought on a bit of a whim, impulse purchase with some extra gear money I had at the time. It really holds it own with any of my other basses! It even got studio use (if curious and into basic "rock", I used it on the song "Our World" at Invalid Link Removed).
I changed the stock MIM Jazz V pickups to FENDER SCN's when I first got the bass years ago, but sold it in 2011 to offset other gear costs. I missed having a fiver though. Bought a used German made Warwick and then a Fender MIA P5, but actually preferred my old MIM Jazz V. Luckily I was able to get it back at the same price I had sold it at.

If I look at things I would like to have before the end of this year, I'm hoping to be able to add a standard Precision bass, either a new Squier or used Fender, depending on what I can find.
And if I could swing two basses before years end, I'd like to have a fretless Jazz on hand, although right now, I'd let that slide for a good deal on a bigger amp for playing out.

I have somewhere between two and three dozen basses.
I don't know what or even exactly where they are.
The important part is I did not buy an instrument of any kind in 2012.
Took a major hand injury in May 2011 to accomplish it, but I'm permanently out of the GAS business.
