It's a crazy thought, but should everyone be doing this?

I have long had a fixation on the music of Brad Mehldau. It's complexity and beauty fascinates me. I play along with his music very often. It helps me with the symptoms of my schizophrenia, because when I am playing with him, I can't think about anything else. Anyway, I had the thought recently, of having the goal to play with him someday. Doesn't have to be in front of an audience, just in person. I thought this was outlandish at first, and too lofty to shoot for. But then I thought, why not? I'm going to have to be the best I can be to get a shot, so why not practice my ass off and see where it takes me? It's only going to make me better. Just curious if anyone else has similar aspirations and if so how are they serving you? Mine's been working great. I'm practicing more, and in a more focused way. Working on the hard stuff lol. I hope that you are all well. BASS.

As a guitarist/bassist who’s teenage years were in the 80’s, one of my favorite guitarists was Jamie West Oram from The Fixx. Mostly known for the One Thing Leads to Another riff, his sound and style helped define 80’s music. For 2 decades, that was my go-to riff when noodling around. About 20 years later, my band opened for the The Fixx. Following their sound check, we were allowed to situate our gear in whatever space was left over. As a gear junkie, I was anxious to see his rig. To my surprise, his pedalboard was literally a hot mess (see pic below - not taken by me). After our sound check, he comes over to me and was fascinated by my pedalboard which used 2 Boss loop selectors (this was pre- digital loop selectors by Boss). I showed him how it was routed, etc. He says, “Your board literally makes me feel embarrassed about mine. I’ve got to do something about it.” Next thing you know, he’s invited me back to their ‘green room/bar’ and we’re jamming away and doing shots. Way too many shots, but I’m rolling with it. Later, I came to find that he had a very nice pedal board built. I like to think that maybe I inspired him :)

Go for it.

It will lead to good things, no matter what.

so one pedalboard lead to another? Is not as catchy as a song title/lyrics
