My '92 L2000 arrived about 2 hours ago. Oh dear Lord!!! My face might break from smiling so much. This thing is sick, sick, SICK!


Can you guys/girls share some of your preferred knob/switch settings (along with the appropriate usage ie. hard rock tone/softer jazzy number/etc). The choices are a little bit overwhelming at the moment and I am so stunned that I am not sure I am thinking clearly.

I can't remember the settings used to use, but I liked mine mostly passive. Happy exploring...

I tend to play passive, neck pup, with flats. I tend more towards the blues/country/rock, definitely NOT metal or anything of that nature.

Flats on one L2000, rounds on my other one. Mostly play with both pups, active (not treble boost) varying tones.

My two favorites:

Rock I tend to gravitate toward neck pickup, series (middle switch toward bridge), passive. Would go to Active without treble boost if I needed more oomph. I like this with a pick, and I pick over the bridge pickup.

Funk, worship, softer numbers, etc I would go both pickups, "single coil w/ bass boost" (middle switch toward neck), passive. I don't think I ever use active in this mode. Play finger-style over the bridge pickup for more punch, over the neck pickup for more thump.

Don't have pics yet but will by the end of the weekend for sure. Will be sure to post! Thanks for the input guys. I think that it is interesting that most/many of you are preferring the neck p/up. Seems like the bridge would give more of that Stringray tone wouldn't it?

My default rock setting is active (no treble boost) with both pickups in series. I change it up a little depending on the song, though. The neck pickup gives a reasonable Precision approximation. Solo bridge pickup is the least useful to me, but you can see what you like.

I recommend that you just experiment and get familiar with the controls. There are a ton of tones available and what you like is going to be very subjective.
