I think I should be reasonable and put the tax return aside. I spent so much money on a bass and bass equipment towards the end of last year...never have I done that before.

My "tax return" will involve "returning" enough to the IRS to have bought a really nice bass, amp, and a cab or two. The funny thing is, I don't remember them giving me the money in the first place.

Well, I was thinking about putting a down payment on a BMW wagon to haul my equipment, a Sadowsky lefty bass, and a Mesa D800 with a pair of Mesa 112 Neos. But, I'm probably going to blow $100 on a replacement neck for my cheap J bass clone and buy a practice amp!

Wifey has cleared me for $1000. So it's either the used Palatino 3/4 upright my buddy took in at his music shop for $600 or maybe the new Gibson. I've got two Precisions now so I know it has to be something different. I like them new Hammersmiths but their just out of reach financially.

I refuse to loan the government money interest free. So I try my best to estimate taxes to be as close to a wash as possible.

My parents would have the maximum tax withheld during the year, just so they could get a large refund! I never understood the logic of giving Uncle Sam an interest-free loan, when you could be earning interest on it yourself.

Unfortunately, people use it as a "savings account" when they don't have the discipline to save up for something themselves.

I usually don't get much back, but what I do get, SHOULD put it towards credit card debt or car payments. ...but...Pancho Tomaselli Signature ESP-LTD!!! ...or another bike (I race cyclocross) We'll see what I decide to do...
