Jack Casady and adding extra magnets to pickups

I experimented with this idea by adding rare earth magnets to the back of my P bass pickups. I did this so long ago that I do not remember the outcome.
It's easy enough to get micro rare earth magnets and put them on the underside of the pickup poles and test it out. I would expect a stronger output (think of a SD Quarter Pounder which has larger poles) and some changes to the tone.
