Been tempted to defret my old gold top... not sure if the inlays will be problematic, and chance of failure damaging the fret board. Would love to hear first hand experience for sure. You could also get another JCB and de-fret it. No?

No gig, just wondering around the Fair .Yeah, too bad we couldn't meet up. It's always nice meeting other TB'ers. Were you playing Saturday too? We were on the Meadows stage at 4:00.

The very rare blue JCB...I still have my eye out for one of those!View attachment 3508040 Love everything about it. All I have changed (not in this pic) is silver speed knobs to match the silver ‘guard.

In advance of my number, risking not receiving one for violating some rule? I wish to broach the topic of the JC being semi-hollow.
It ain’t. IMO she's a full hollow body.
My reasoning: if you look inside, she’s wide open across the body save for the tail and neck blocks. Yes, there are stiffening boards on the top and bottom running from tail to neck, but they are only about 1/2” thick and there is about 2” plus fully open space.
Let’s forget the neck block as all acoustic instruments have one of some sort. So that leaves the tail block and stiffeners. The tail is only necessary to mount the bridge; if it had a trapeze, it wouldn’t be necessary. Acoustic instruments often have a network of stiffening on the top. No one would call that a semi. So, JC’s are hollow, or so it seems to me. And they act like it too. My first gig with it we were coming out of the interlude of “Life’s been Good” by Joe Walsh and holding the open A long to decay, she began feeding the A back getting louder and louder. (I couldn’t figure out who it was until my finger touched the A string) My semi Ibby ABG205 doesn’t do that ever.
So, what you folks say?
Jack tells us that the LP bass is a semi-hollow.Do you know what they considered the Les Paul that the Casady was modeled after?

Where / when did you pick up the blue JCB? They're hard to find...
I'd like to get my hands on that and really looking to get a Gibson Midtown Standard in Pelham Blue...
