Played the heck out of one of these yesterday at a GC. Really love these basses.

I thought the white looked classy as all get-out but I still think I prefer the gold...

Wow. Didn't know the silverburst even existed. Gotta look up a pic of that!

I don't typically like gold instruments or gold hardware...to me it can get gaudy real quick, but I dig it on these basses, echoing a goldtop Les Paul and all...just kind of classic and classy to me.

I had a '98 Casady in Vintage Sunburst. That color was, by far, my favorite; but hasn't been available for a long time. Of the more common ones, my preference - in order - are Black; White; Gold; then Silverburst.

Very good bass, unmistakeable sound and feel and quality ratio, over pricetag, is hard to beat

More on the Fender side of (life) it, but I think that Gibson has somethin' to it. Sure I mean thunderbirds and Jack Casady's too.

If you love that strange peculiar Les Paul goldtop look and tone, this bass really comes close, down a lowend point of view

Each an' every finish's good to me... Black reminds me of bb king's lucille, gold of mentioned goldtop
Silverburst is one of the most appealing novelties and white, well, it's like... the bass for weddings!!!

Strings - play your favorites. I initially got a set of Chromes. However, putting them on revealed a possible assembly issue - the higher tension flats began pulling the bridge posts out of the body. Not that uncommon on Epiphones apparently - there are several threads addressing this with solutions. Instead of gluing them back in I went with a Hipshot Supertone and I love it. I don't like 3-point bridges in general and Epi's is a watered down version of Gibson's. Not as robust. It works well enough once you get the hang of it but the Hipshot bypasses all that nonsense. Right now I'm using Dean Markley nickel steels and I'm liking them a lot.

I had a bridge bar on several of my Gibson's and it does help, especially on short scale basses by lengthening the silk behind the saddle. Adding the bar is not a night and day difference, but I felt it sounded a little tighter overall. Subtle for sure.

Get a good, wide strap with a suede back and you'll have no trouble keeping the bass where you want it.
I am partial to the Italia 4" straps. They're usually running a sale.

Now the bad news - there are no gig bags that are a standard fit for this bass. A Gibson 335 bag isn't long enough, regular bass bags aren't wide enough. The only thing I could find was an acoustic bass bag (World Tour) which is both long and wide enough, but it's 4 inches too deep. I solved this by buying a small fleece blanket and some bath towels to pad it out. Extra stuff to lug around, but the bass itself is light, and it fits snug. I don't mind the extra protection either.
