Jackson Concert Bass?

and man I wish I had shark1's KW with the soapbar EMG's

there is still a huge community within TB, that not only owns Fenders, but many other types of guitars made out here that have that perfect sound that nothing else can reproduce "out of the box". I had a black bound Aerodyne, and loved almost every minute of it.

and as far as JacksonJapan WAS concerned about back then was make an extremely high quality product and not worry about the price, the C5/KW/TBX/Futura -- all fantastic players

not too many dealers wanted to take a chance and see how long a 1700+ jackson bass would sit in the shop, so not too many were made. I looked all over and ended up ordering my TBX out of their catalog and waiting months just like a custom for it to come in >LUCKY for us who own them 20 years later

but ask anyone if they heard of Jackson, and they will always say "ya that dude Randy Rhoads played one of them polka dot Jackson gee-tars"

Ok, here's the scoop TB'ers...
I had made arrangments with the seller to meet at his house at 7:00pm last night. I gota phone call at 6:30pm from the sellers Father, saying his son was not selling his Jackson Bass! I'm like, dude, I got the dough and I'm just heading out the door, what gives?
"My son can't sell you this bass and here's why... his mother died a few years back and I bought him that bass as a momento for his Mom, it's a family heirloom!"
I said..."sir, I appreciate that more than you can know and here's why... backj in the early 90's, my Mom pased away and I bought a Charvel Guitar as a momento fro my Mom. Well, last October, my Dad passed away and this bass was going to be my momento for my Dad."
His response... "Well than I'm sure you can appreciate my reluctance to let him sell this guitar"
How do I argue with that?:bawl:
So, I'm still on the market for my next bass, the search continues.
I did want to express my sincere thanks to all who responded tothis thread with info and insights... you guys are awesome!

DAMN JOE, that's like trying to divorce a wife, and finding out after 8 months of lawyer stuff and 10 grand worth of fees later trying to get what you want, THEN she changes her mind about splitting up property, and you go thru it ALL over again....


well joe, you tried-- like anything, if you REALLY want a CMG, they are not "rare", but to find one in the price range you were gonna pay for that one is gonna be hard..

The alternative is a ConcertBass, or even a Concert-5 five stringer, but it will still be $$$$.

Don't give up on the search!! Something will always turn up in the end :D

It took me a while to find a Charvel 475 Ltd Edition Platinum Crackle, but I managed to find one in the end (actually my wife found it!).

Yup, I've got a lacewood KW with the p/j pickups. I tried a KW with a quilt top, EMG's and even an abalone logo but it just didn't sound as good as the one I bought !!

Don't sweat it. Jacksons are always coming up on Ebay and NOT a Fender Jackson. As a matter of fact, if you want a nice one, there's a guy named Todd Cooke who was selling one on ebay a few weeks ago that was cherry, but nobody bit. He's a great guy and keeps all his instruments in great condition. If I had the scratch, I would've jumped on in in a heartbeat.

Keep watching ebay for a Concert bass or a Charvel 3-B.

Here's my Concert Professional V

Bought it out of a pawnshop window in '98 for $600
Don't know much about it, whether it's high end or not.
Tried getting info thru Jackson's site and serial number, but don't see my bass's sequence :confused:
After talking here figgered it's a ±'93

Plays well, sounds great. Jackson pups. 2 octave neck sealed the deal :bassist:

The CMG Concert Bass is a nice instrument. Think of it as a higher end Fender MIM Deluxe and you won't be far wrong. The fit and finish on them is quite nice & there's a good variety of tones available from the 3-band preamp, too. The body edges aren't contoured so it's quite blocky. They go quite cheap here in the UK as they're quite rare and unloved. I bought one in that I later traded. Not a bad bass :)

sweet white C5, and that B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L APM2450 bridge that allows for ALL adjustments, including string spacing.

since it is a "pro" probably 92-95, whats the serial ( J3xxxxx/J4xxxxx )?

Thanks ami! I like it a lot! Definitely a keeper!

SN# 302753, no letter. The bridge says Kahler 2450, no "APM" - unless they are one and the same. :atoz:
Would be curious to know the price new! ;)

One more thing - this bass slaps really well for a 5er! Not having a pickguard helps! :bassist: :)

APM was the style, but ya one in the same 2440 4-string 2450 5-string 139.00 from the Kahler site.

hahah although I'm not buying it, thats on my watchlist to see if ANYONE bids on it :D:D:D:D he says in the AD that it is an 80's Jackson C5 ---nope a 90's YES. if it was a late 80's it would say Charvel, not Jackson. ( If I am wrong I hope someone chimes in and scolds me )

hell it would take 100.00 worth of goo-gone to get ALL those stickers off of it!!
