jackson concert basses

Hey. I play a CMG. I'm quite fond of the neck on it. The pickups & preamp take some getting used to, but I'm pretty good with them now. I've never seen a fiver.
Mine's been doing good for five years, but it would benefit from being rewired at this point.
QC was great, no loose fret ends, quality nut.
I'd like to hear it with different pups...

Hey, I have and love a CMG in black forest green. When I bought from musicians friend (none of my locals carry new jacksons) they listed the fretboard as ebony whereas their site now says rosewood... Mine is very dark anyhow. The passive-aggressive EMGs do take a little getting used to, and after a year of gigging I had to get the volume and pan pots replaced. One downside is that you have to use long scale plus strings, so no GHS ultra heavys, but d. markley makes blue steels that fit. The alder has nice sustain, the neck is fast and thin (especially in the bottom 8 frets). This bass will meet my needs for a long time, even though I am not playing as much metal these days. The two pickups offer a wide array of tones, and the active EQ let's you pump up whatever you like to emphasize. I have also recorded two studio demos with this bass and had no issues with the quality or the consistency of the signal. I also love the color, everyone thinks it's black until I tell them it's green; the sharkfins call out to the child of the 80s that became the bass player I am today...

can't go wrong with a jackson, my friend. i've never played the CMG, but i have the C20, which i love, and also have a couple of the Charvel's from the 80's. 5 stringer's are hard to come by these days. i've been looking for one myself. i know they made some new 5 stringers this year, but they arent out yet, and probably won't be cheap when they do come out. amimbari should be around here shortly. he knows pretty much all there is to know about jacksons, lol. anyway, in my opinion, if you have the opportunity to get your hands on a jackson, id say definitely do so.

alright so ive been looking into these basses for a while
what are your guys opinions and experience with them?
im looking for info on the CMG series or the LX series
how rare is it to find a 5 stringer?
if your talking about "older" charvel/jackson basses, 80's,90's, or early 2000's a CMG for 250 is a good deal. If you are talking an old pointy Concert-V or a Concert LX neckthru...forget about finding 100 of them for sale :crying:

Some of the people here know that I have a ****load of them in various models and configs, so I can only say

I'm biased :D

and C/J 5stringer production MIJ models from the 90's ( not a customshop )---this HAS to be the rarest one I ever owned and was not even offered in the USA catalogs:

.

they are not making "cheap" pointy 5stringers yet, only the Ellefson Sigs so far, and not too many people are gonna pay 4grand for a neckthru
