Jackson Replacement Pups Suggestions

I have a 2011 Jackson JS3VQ (5 string, active preamp) which is my only and main bass. I've been in a groove metal band for a few months, and I want to improve my sound. I recently bought a Trace Elliot GP12 Series 6 second hand and I love it, but the sound isn't as clear as I would've liked, being a bit muddy. I would like to replace my pickups from stock passive Jackson ones to some active pickups (my bass uses soap bars).

What pickups should I get? My favorite bass tones are Rex Brown and early Alex Webster (some more recent ones too but I don't tune that low). I play fingerstyle, very low action plucking at the neck pickup. I would prefer EMGs (but there are so many I don't know what to choose), as they are cheaper than stuff like Seymour but I'm open to any suggestions.
