Jackson Spectra Pros Keep Eating my Batteries...HELP!!

I got 2 Jackson Spectra Pro basses and love them dearly except for 1 thing...
THEY EAT BATTERIES!!!
My Caribbean Burst will kill a battery in about 3 weeks with a top of the line battery. I thought I had the problem solved with a new switch, but nope!!!

My Blackburst will kill a battery in about 3 months with minimal usage. I just discovered this one tonight.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm leaning towards maybe a batch of bad preamps made it through to the assembly floor

BTW I have not been playing them much lately Both basses may have 10 hours on them in 3 months. And no I do NOT leave them plugged in.

My stingrays can easily get over a year on a battery!

There is a new preamp on order! God only knows when it will get here though. The second one I just made known to him last night in a txt

After a quick Googling that bass appears to have a barrel output jack. Those frequently fail, especially the knockoff ones. If you have a multimeter you could do some checking and make sure the battery is actually shutting off with the jack removed.

This problem is almost always due to a mis-wired output jack. It's easy to do because the bass will still work with the ground and ring terminals reversed, but the battery negative will always be connected to ground and it will drain in a few days.

An active/passive switch does not usually disconnect power to the preamp.

Any resolution to this? My pro eats batteries in a couple of weeks. I replaced the input jack but I’m unsure if it’s wired correctly, and I can’t find a schematic online anywhere.

Here's a diagram that shows proper wiring for battery in active basses.

The negative (-) of the battery connector shall be connected to the ring terminal of the jack. All other grounding in the bass shall be connected to the sleeve terminal of the jack.

Output jacks should be pretty standard but if you have a multimeter and a stereo cord it’s pretty easy to figure out which contact is which. Actually you can even get it with a mono cord and some care.
