i recently bought my first jaco album and thought it was good, but i thought jaco was at his best in "Come On, Come Over" when it most resembles funk, which other albums or songs does he play songs which are funky like that?

    "Barbary Coast" from Black Market
"The Chicken" from The 30th Birthday Concert(live)
"Wiggle Waggle" from the Jaco Pastorius Big Band Revisted disc(a Big Band recorded a live arrangement while listening to Jaco's original bassline).

Joni Mitchell's "Shadows and LIght " live album has some pretty funky bass lines from Jaco!

The Weather Report "Live and Unreleased" also has some pretty funky tracks - "Teen Town" is much funkier and extended for example...but there are lots of funky tracks! :)

  6. Jaco at his best? You mean as a player or as a composer?

Teen Town and Portrait of Tracy are my faves, along with Havona, and Opus Pocus. Punk Jazz deserves a mention also!
