I was a big big fan of Heavy Weather. Then I spent my hard earned money on Mr. Gone and thought I had been ripped off. It was mostly crap. Never bought anything from Joe Z after that.
I did like "Punk Jazz".
On a whole, though, too much synths & not enough Shorter.
I do have a few post-Weather Report Zawinul albums.
I have most of Zawinul's stuff, there's always an excellent bassist with him.I did like "Punk Jazz".

He seems to have a fair bit of newer stuff on his site, but I'm usually a CD guy (instead of downloads). I need to get down to it and check out what I can get!

Jamaaladeen has had a prolific career, but most of it has been live performances rather than studio recorded albums. That said, well worth checking out "Dreamscape" and "The Flavors of Thelonious Monk," both still available as downloads on his web site:

I highly recommend Renaissance Man ...for the compositions even moreso that Tacuma's bass playing. That was the album where he displayed an uncanny grasp of Ornette's writing, creating melodies that were simultaneously simple yet also fertile nuggets for development. I probably haven't listened to that album in ~30 years and yet there are tunes from it I play -- or sing -- almost daily!
Was about ~30 years for me, too (my LPs are stashed at my mom's)...Renaissance Man arrived today. Just started playing it now. The title track would not be out-of-place on those earliest Jaco albums.

...not digging it. Too much DX7, synths, drum machines & programming.
It's the '80s, it was 'the times'. Which I was no fan of when they were happening.
I did my share of recording with a drum machine. Recording Engineer said "...this is great. No mics, no set-up, bleed over, it doesn't speed up/slow down, it's more time economical (which is BS)...".
Nevermind that there's no feel, no soul, & it sounds like a Mattel toy.

I need a product called gate-be-gone to remove gated reverbs from some 80's albums. A lot of 'good idea at the time' recording techniques and products like DDD, MIDI, DX7s etc. just bug me now.

Heh. I remember the first time I had to repair a DX7, it was a pretty rude shock after having been an ARP factory tech. And course some of the classic ARP sounds haven't exactly aged gracefully either...String Ensemble, I'm lookin' at you!

I stumbled across an album called Race The Time...Christy Foran (guitar), Fredy Studer (drums), & Tacuma.
Picked it up cheap. Never heard of this album, I am digging it a lot.
Reminds me of David Fiuczynski's Headless Torsos.

I Remember Jaco Back somewhere about 1979 to 1981 South Florida Club Scene he would ride up on a bicycle and sit in with local bands. I got to know him a bit, I was a Local DJ. I remember when someone ask him who he was, he responded, (I am the worlds greatest bass player Jaco Pastorius) It was strange at the time, He sure ended up being right about that !!....Strange Dude You could tell he was emotionally troubled.....
