I saw Ian Hunter around 1980 at the Peppermint Lounge in NYC I believe. Wonder if Jaco ever performed with him, and if maybe I saw Jaco without even knowing it...

Ah, Martin Briley. There's a name for my bassists post.

Lots of Jaco on rock/pop albums. Normally you don't know because he just plays good solid bass.

I still love "Short Back and Sides" better.

Pretty sure Jaco never toured with Ian. I don't think he ever played live with him either. Ian will be 72 in a few months and he still rocks like crazy. His shows are cround two hours and he has an incredible band, including Steve Holley from Wings, Joe Cocker and many others. Recently, on bass, Ian has used Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith) and Graham Maby (Joe Jackson). Currently he is using Paul Page. Paul is kind of unknown, but he is a monster player. I absolutely love his playing. In fact, if you're in the area, Paul and Steve have a great cover band called The Sidney Green Street Band and they are playing this thursday at The Great Notch Inn in Clifton NJ.

I opened up for Ian a few years back, but not too many, and he was still pumping the hell out his Les Paul Jr. He really drove the band with his wicked rhythm guitar. He was a real gent, too. Only guy I've ever opened up for who came over and apologized that we didn't get a sound check. Class act.
