Jaco playing upright

I have heard that Jaco occasionally played the upright. Have anyone ever heard it? It would be very interesting to hear.

I dunno, but he played the piano quite well.

No. IIRC there is a recording on that CD of him playing the head to Dexterity on his upright. He plays it pretty well; which suggested to me that at some point he did shed that instrument.

The part about the humidity blowing up the bass was more than likely one of Jaco's "expansions of the truth." You know, like fisherman stories. More likely was that his life moved on as he got more busy with the electric; and there was probably some sad ending for that upright.

But, from that one recording, my sense was he could have been a very competent, maybe special upright player, had he put his mind towards it. As we all know, other things happened.
