Jaco's Jazz Bass

Geddy started with a P-Bass, then quickly switched to Rickenbacker 4001's for about eight years, then the Steinberger and then the Wal, he had his Fender Jazz Bass since 1980 and has used it exclusively since 1994.

Not one bass the whole time but for the last 18 years it's been the Fender Jazz Bass.

Wow!

George Potter Jr. Plays GnL Basses too.
Wooten has his Monarch long before the YYD.
Miller plays Sadowskys, his Fender is modded by Roger Sadowsky. He also plays Foderas (mostly fretless).

My turn... Alain Caron and F-Bass. He has been playing them for a long time, the BN6 fretted, which he still use now, and the AC Model.

Jeff Berlin has been with Dean for quite a while, Peavey before that.

Victor actually used to play a univox bass before he was in the Flecktones or any of that, I think it's the one on the cover of his "What Did He Say?" cd, he also played an Alembic, which he notes as his first "good" bass. As for now, he does as most of you noted, play primarily play Fodera basses, and as has been noted for good reason. However, if you watch any of the videos in which Vic plays a fretless, or had the chance to see him live, he plays a custom Compito 5 fretless bass, made by his friend the late Joe Compito. It's a gorgeous bass, and sounds phenomenal, and apparently it was the first fretless that Joe made. But yeah, MOSTLY Foderas.

Jaco just came to mind as the only player who really just plays one KIND of bass. I know he had his fretted and unfretted models, but he apparently had absolutely no interest in any other type of bass than The Fender Jazz Bass.

Are you sure about that?

As an owner of a Pilot fretless, I can see why this is the ONE other fretless he'd consider. They are superb.

Marcus Miller only plays Fender...

He also played a fretless modulus with graphite neck 5 strings (seen him in Paris in the late 90's, with Hiram Bullock, RIP hiram...:(), and a Leduc U-bass fretless

About Alain Caron, his first fretless was a defretted P, played on Leduc basses (french luthier, I remember it was ... again...as MM.... the U-bass with a floating top, but not sure)

"9. FB: What fretless basses have you owned, which do you still own?
Alain Caron: I had a Fender Precision and a Jazz bass, Music Man, different copies of Jazz Bass, Leduc, MF and F Basses. I still have one Leduc, two MF and many F basses."

This one does not appear as a U-bass, looks more like a Masterpiece model
