Actually Jaco was a lot more specific than Fender Jazz bass. His preference was for Aug '61 to Aug '62 Fender Jazz bass!

Jaco played tons of basses, whatever was around. He was more into playing than gear from what I can see.

He was actually looking to branch out when he passed away. My grandad for one and some other boutique companies were comissioned by him so he could try more.

Yea on VH`1 classic yesterday I saw him playing a warlock, during the music video hour late at night (idk what its called)

The bassist for the foo fighters plays mainly fenders, Dick Lovegren only plays warwicks(I listen to his jazz stuff its superb), Justin Chancellor plays mainly Wal basses, when christian plays electric I've only seen him with the Pensa, Esperanza Spalding mainly plays her Jaco model and fretless(I think its a DG bass), Bill Dickens mainly plays conklins, Jonas Helborg plays his custom model warwicks, ill think of more later...

Edit: Paul Jackson plays his modified fender, and his new ESP Signature Model both pretty unique and exclusive, and Randy Jackson plays EBMM Sterlings, Reflex, and Bongos, Dave LaRue now almost always has his Tangerine Pearl or (?) Blue Bongos

And Anthony Jackson used Carl Thompson for a very brief time, he also used a detuned Fender jazz, Ken Smith, and now Fodera.

I know there is the odd shot of Steve Harris playing something other than a Fender P bass but I think he counts as a great bass player who has basically stuck to the same instrument all the way through his career.

How far back does Nathan East go with Yamaha? He may be another.
