Jad Freer Audio - CAPO multiple preamp

It’s an awesome feature I was greatly missing with other preamps. That is considered a pretty gentle slope. A sharp slope is essentially an immediate drop off

I can tell you all that I have mine on all the time. What you have to understand is this pedal saturates so the upper harmonics are enhanced. In other words, you are bringing out the high end with saturation and then keeping the brittleness and harshness out of the equation with the low pass.

a cabsim is a low pass. Thats really it besides them maybe using an impulse response to copy the curve of that cab.

to simulate the jad freer lp in the daw id suggest saturating first and then running that sound into the filter. Will give you a better idea of what to expect.

So far in 2023 I've bought a Schecter J4 (part trade), a DG Hyper Luminal, SFX Thumpinator and now the Capo, we're no even out of Jan. I'm on a strict purchase ban from now for the rest of the year.

In my defence i did sell lots of gear which have paid for the majority of that but still...

Is the Capo pre fx loop buffered at all? I have a drive that tends to sound marginally better with a hi-z input.

Just trying to mentally plan my pedalboard and make sure I've got sufficient patch cables etc.

Ahhh just seen it says its a passive pre fx loop which I'm guessing means unbuffered.

This seems like a great pedal. I was thinking about the Origin Effects BassRig Super Vintage, but now this has my attention. I realize they are different types of product, but I would probably use them in a similar way. I wonder if anyone has tried both and has any comments?

i’ll just say that I didn’t get my capo yet just so you’ll know.

I just bought the 64 black panel (and the capo,yeah,don’t judge)
I really loved the super vintage, the 8x10 cabinet through the D.I is probably the best I heard, but I went with the 64 cause I felt that the capo can replicate the svt style much more easily (big low end, scooped mids) and the 64 had this vintage vibe that I thought was really special and maybe harder to replicate, so both of them can answer all my needs.

Hope it helped a bit! As I said I didn’t heard the capo live so I might be wrong

Is there anywhere to get one other than direct from the manufacturer, or here in classifieds? I haven’t seen it at any retailers

Reverb has them, and looks like it's cheaper than direct form the manufacturer, which ends up being $670 or so.

Either way it looks like a 3 week wait time.

I’m pretty much convinced I want to get a Capo, but where best to order from, and how long will it take to get to California?

I ordered directly from them but I got in on the first batch. I think my SN is 036. I don't remember it taking past a couple weeks or so.

I ordered one off reverb. I contacted them and they said to buy on their site or reverb. I went through the process and reverb was a bit cheaper. Now I wait for 3 weeks.

One of the things that convinced me was Tim Lefebvre’s video where he compares the flat (no eq or drive) DI signal from the Capo, Noble, and Crucial Audio. The Capo’s basic signal was better sounding than the un-eq’d Noble. It won’t have the tubey fattening, but nobody will hear that in a live performance anyway.

Ive used origin stuff for years and really love what they do, currently i have the svt style bass rig on one of my rigs and a capo on order. The bass rigs are great don’t get me wrong, but they’re either the perfect for the gig or just sorta not working… i’ve spent quite a bit of time with a couple of friends capo’s and they seemed much more difficult to pigeon hole.

Actually I guess that is the point of the bassrigs.. but something tells me there isn’t enough bass players working in that shop on the R and D side of things. Anyway I can’t wait for my capo to arrive!
