IMHO, Paul Turner may be not so inspiring as SZ but he's definitely way more "professional". Precise, tight, dynamic, reliable, groovy, all of it. And this contributes greatly to the band's overall sound, maybe not to his own fame. As for me, when JK picked him up, I thought "finally, the band got decent, first-class rythmsection.
Cheers!
I can't say that I see Jamiroquai as a band anymore. With Zender and Toby Smith, there was a particular sound and approach which really suggested "band" to me. With "Synkronized" (and all of the following albums), it seemed to be much more of a JK solo affair with hired guns.
