I bought the latest album without even hearing it, just because it was a Jamiroquai album. I love Jamiroquai, I've got all of the albums except Return of the Space Cowboy. I must honestly say, I think since Zender left the music has not gotten better. I think it's gone a bit backwards.
I'm not saying the Fyffe isn't an awesome bassist. I just think the Zender suited that style of music more. The last two albums that Fyffe has played on were good, but the bass has not contributed as much, or been as important a part of the music as it was before Synkronized. I think that A Funk Oddessy is a good album, but not great. The music sounds way to electronic, almost like it could have produced by some guy at his PC. The bass, as someone already said, is drowned in effects. The one song that I do really like though is Main Vein.
I suppose I was just a bit dissapointed by the last two albums. There is some good stuff on them, but nothing too new or exciting. Travelling Without Moving was my favourite album, and I keep on expecting that Jamiroquai will return to that style of music with each album release, and they don't.
