The amount of work and study JP has done even after had firmly established his reputation is a real eye opener!
This is a great interview. I watched it a couple days ago and besides the fact that JP is one of my all-time favorite bass players, I could literally listen to these two talk music for hours and hours on end. Not a whole lot fascinates me with most other musicians but the stories that some players have throughout the history of their careers and traveling all over the world with unique experiences really geeks me out wanting to hear about everything they've been through.
I watched the interview on Friday. JP remains a massive source of inspiration to me 20 years since I first hear Communion.

Neither plays my kind of music, but the thoughts and insights of talented people are always interesting.
Ok, I listened to the new Patitucci record and I like it a lot. My aversion to him is that 80s tone he talks about moving away from. So maybe I'll do like I did with Pat Metheny and go backwards in his discography until I find the 80s production event horizon.
