I watched a video recently of one of those completely smoking a Tesla Model S Plaid I thought it would win but the margin was huge! quite impressive.
That was an impressive video. I was not surprised the VR1X won, but I didn't expect it to dominate off the line.
I love that the CEO was dailying one in MI during the winter.
Does anyone else think Jay is completely out of stories? I can't remember the last time I watched one of these and didn't hear a repeat story.'
Glad he's still doing them even though he's not my favorite. Really cool stuff that would be hard to find otherwise, particularly with the quality that he maintains.

I took my Chevy Volt into the Dealer for it's usual service (oil change etc) and they had two in the showroom. Absolutely a beautiful car.
For some reason, they wouldn't let me take it for a spin while I was waiting on my car.

Actually, the idea that ANYONE can walk in off the street with their funds in order and drive off with 1250bhp with no more than a 'Thank You!' is utterly terrifying. Get the one with the lift-off roof section, and men of a certain age can drive around on pretty days, and oh yes, have you met my niece ? ?

I mean it probably isn't any more dangerous than the dozens of EVs hitting the market with absolutely ludicrous acceleration lol. Modern cars ae absurdly fast compared to the past.
They ARE the car for middle aged men wearing New Balance shoes, after all.
The first 911 beater has the Porsche crowd upset (no hater here, as I like both but the balance of power has clearly shifted).
My dad bought a used 911sc back in the day and drove the crap out of it until he decided the maintenance and insurance costs were too high. Still the car of cars for me.

My Ol' Man was a 'car guy' before me and Vietnam came along. It may actually have been the other way around...
Anyway, he had cars, nice ones. Among them was a white Corvette Stingray. That was the first to go. Impractical with a baby. He'd talk about that car now and again through my childhood. I didn't remember it, but it was almost like he thought I should. Cars came and went, mostly sensible family cars, sedans, wagons, etc.
50-odd years later, Mom happened to be on Facebook one day looking at my cousin's page. Her husband runs a Chevrolet dealership in Mississippi and for whatever reason he'd snapped a picture of my redheaded cousin in a white Corvette someone had traded in. Dad walked by about this time, commented that it was a a pretty car and asked who it was? Mom, annoyed that he never knows who anybody is, snapped- that's your niece! He just shrugged it off, and said again what a pretty car it was. Then wistfully, "I used to have one a long time ago."
So Mom messaged her about the car... and ended up buying it for him. It was intended as a way to get him to retire. Which eventually worked. But the short of it was, she gave him the keys in a box, and told him to go get it. In Mississippi.
Since then, he's gone all the way through it. Upgraded everything imaginable... from the engine to the dashboard. Wheels, exhaust, suspension. Takes it to little hometown car shows, drives it in parades.
I need to get a new picture of it sometime. I don't think he's had it out this year.

Well, I kinda have two issues with that statement.
One, my 911 is already wayyyy faster than the law allows. Runs 10.27@137 with no prep at all and does everything else in comfort as well as great visibility, which I value highly. Any time I let the car off its leash on the street, I'm breaking the law in seconds, and I don't mean even 5 seconds. With a ZR1X, I'd just make that more like 1 second and/or make the potential charges that much worse.
Two, the GT2 RS is still quicker than the ZR1X around Nurburgring. Convincingly so, yet has almost half the power. The GT3 RS time is just a hair slower than the ZR1X and it has nearly 1/3 the power. The ZR1X is a 4000lb+ car, and that means tire management, brake management and heat management are absolutely amazing to go as fast through corners as it did, but it also means that you can kiss those consumables goodbye in a very short period of time. The pay to play factor of driving the ZR1X near its limits is going to be high.
Now, my opinion on the car? Amazing. Absolutely astonishing that they did this, and could have made it faster if we're being honest. By today's standards, a 200hp electric motor is not at the peak of performance, but they wanted to balance the electrical load vs. weight and sustainability of the power. It's too bad that it's so heavy, I think driving one will be more about serious acceleration than playful driving as a result, and that's fine for the majority of potential owners. I even think the interior of the C8 'vettes is pretty good - not perfect but definitely good, and I can't complain about the near-impossibility of getting road head in that car because my 911 is pretty crap for it too.
