What do you prefer, Black or Tortoiseshell ?

I like black on natural; but on that bass, I prefer the tort. I think it complements the rosewood better.

The only Jazz bass that doesn't look amazing with a tortoise guard on it is Jaco's.

The tort gives is a cool, unique vibe, in my humble opinion. The black seems kind of run-of-the-mill to me.

I'd say Tort usually - but I like the black against the nat finish. If you refin it Oly White, I'd say definitely Tort

Well, one problem is solved -

I dug through my box of old radio knobs and found a more appropriate set of Jazz knobs, so I don't have to look at those chrome ones anymore !

Black, IMO tort ruins every bass it is on.

Although if it were my bass I would put aged white pearl on it.

It all depends on the style and color of the bass for me.
