Jazz bass porn!

I picked up two jazz basses in the last week.

First one is a 78, bought from right here on TB from user "thedeadking". To make a long story short, the money order accidentally got sent to the wrong place, so I had to make a 400 mile road trip to pick this up in person. I strung her up with TI flats, and used it the next day on a gig. It had a white guard on it when I got it, but opted for tort. Great player, and nice fat thumpy sound, perfect for the acoustic gigs my band does. Sound samples can be found here:

The second is a Geddy Lee Sig reissue, I plan to keep this one strung with rounds. Great playing and looking bass! One of the best feeling J necks I have played. Only thing I didn't like was the white guard, so it got a mirror one.

I think bassists are the only musicians who enjoy looking at old, worn, beaten instruments. Thanks to Jaco, of course.

The tort pg was a great call. That's one of my favorite color combinations for a J bass.

Love the blueish hue, but it's actually white isn't it?

I too like, even prefer, a bass with some "character" - has nothing to do with Jaco for me.

Doh, the blue is my camera getting old, it is most definitely white. I personally love the old, worn-in, beat look. Bathroom scale says it is 9.5 pounds, fairly light for the era.

On the Geddy, I hated the tux look, so that guard went. I'm not too sure about the mirror guard now, I might go with either black, or black pearl.
