I hope this thread is in the right section, I don't post too often. I have recently purchased, courtesy of TBer StrangerDanger, a beautiful G&L JB and was wondering how Jazz style basses handle being setup to play in drop C.
My main stage bass is an L2K Tribute tuned CGCF, it's a real work horse and has a wonderful neck that holds tune really well. I was wondering if a thinner neck would create any issues with this tuning, and how jazz pickups handle the lower tension on the strings.
My other bass is a Schecter Damien and the drop C tuning was really hard on it. There was lots of signal loss because the pickups were not loud enough. Also the neck had to be constantly re-adjusted due to warping. It's neck is thin similar to the Jazz, so before wasting any time or money, I want to be sure it's the bass itself and not it's dimensions. I fixed the volume issues by changing string type but the neck warping caused me to re-adjust it to standard tune.
I hope the Jazz's higher build qualify will count for something.
Any advice is welcome.
